tile cracked around the shower door hinge

My contractor installed the glass for my shower in Friday. I had to work and when I came home, everything looked beautiful, but then I notice there were cracks along the area where the door hinges are attached. I only heard of this being an issue with glass tiles. I have 12 by 8 ceramic tiles from Porcelanosa. Is cracking common for ceramic tiles?

Sounds to me like he screwed up drilling the holes in the tile. Replacement should be on the his dime.

RE: tile cracked around the shower door hinge

He definitely caused the cracks when drilling like millworkman says. I am contemplating installing a wall hung porcelain soap dish on my ceramic tiled wall myself because GC wants $75 to do it. I wanted to save some money, after seeing this post perhaps I should reconsider.

Yeah, he needs to remove the door and replace the tile. And be more careful tightening the screw next time.
