We put sliding doors on our kids' bathtub many years ago. I know they have improved in over the past 30 years, but I still hate them. I'll take a curved shower curtain anytime over those doors. Many hotels/motels that don't have walk in showers, have switched to the curved rods, and I am always happy to see those. You have to be inside the tub to clean them, and they restrict your elbow room to the size of the tub. Very confining. And they make it awkward for older people to climb into with that restricted opening as we discovered last year when we had to use that bathroom while our master bath was being remodeled.
As our sons grew, taller, the shower water bounced off their bods over the top of the glass.

Tough to bathe grandkids too in there with the doors.

I don't recall hotels EVER having glass shower doors -- their cleaning staff would be climbing in and out of bathtubs all day!

I had a shower door in the kids' bath in my previous home and I wouldn't do it again.

JSHockeyfan- I was referring to to hotels having the curved rods, not glass doors. I totally agree with you! ;-) I should have begun a new paragraph.

Regarding the glass sliding doors, Yes you need to get inside to clean them and they restrict your elbow room.

I installed shower doors on the tub in our guest bath 13 years ago when we first moved in. I do agree they can be restrictive. When the smaller grandkids come, my daughter ends up bathing them in the spa tub in the MB because the doors are in the way. Also an older friend visited recently. She also found it difficult to get in and out of the tub because of the doors. She also likes to soak and she said it really felt claustrophic with the doors.

At this point, they are in so I will probably leave them be. But if doing it today, probably not.

I've been to many hotels with glass shower doors. Some sliding doors installed on tubs, but the majority are swing outs on walk in showers.

Phonelady, you're right - many hotels have glass shower doors. I just don't remember any sliding glass doors on bathtubs.
