Backsplash Question

Which is better - a tiled backsplash or a backsplash that is made from the countertop material? I do not have tiled walls in this bathroom, but am going to have the tub surround removed and replaced with tile, so I will have some tile in the bath.

I was going to go with the countertop material, which is what we have now, but looking at houzz, I'm seeing a lot of tiled backsplashes.

All depends on what Mrs. Mamattorney wants. Trust this......
