Question about sealing glass/slate mosaic backsplash?

We purchased a glass/ slate mosaic netted backsplash for our kitchen and noticed in the installation instructions it says to use a penetrating sealer before grouting. My question is what type of sealer is the best one and we worry that the glass will become hazed over since there is definitely more glass on the pattern then there is slate. I am assuming the sealer is to prevent the grout from sticking to the slate but don't you usually seal after the grouting is done also? We are confused and don't want to cause ourselves more headaches with this project. Can anyone please help us out?

A good, penetrating sealer (DuPont's "Stonetech" is a good example) should be used before grouting as it prevents a haze from forming on the slate...sometimes hard to get rid of. The sealer will simply "buff" off of the glass with a cotton cloth or towell. After the grout has cured for several days, apply the sealer again and buff the project again.

Note! If you use an "Enhancing" sealer, it will tend to bring out the colour and character of the slate more. Dampen a piece of the slate to see what the result should look like....
