About that Kohler hydrorail . . .

Now that DreamingoftheUP has educated me about the hydrorail, I have a technical question I'm hoping someone can answer. Can I use a Kohler hydrorail with a Moen valve? My existing setup is Moen, standart tub spout and shower with an old Chateau knob/controller. I think that part will have to be replaced with Moen since it is integral to the valve. But the water coming out of the wall at the shower head? Does it mater if it's going into Kohler?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can enlighten me.

No, it does not matter. The hydrorail is only connected to the pipe for the original shower head. What controls the flow to that pipe is irrelevant. The diverter valve which controls switching the flow from the shower head to the hand spray is part of the hydrorail.
