Thermostatic Shower Valve Recommendations

I've been reading the "Best Remodeling Decisions" thread and it is just great. One of the top decisions seems to be a thermostatic shower control.

I would appreciate any recommendations for the thermostatic control - Moen vs. Grohe and specific type. Neither my plumber or my GC have much experience with this type of control.

I've decided on Moen for the other fixtures, but I don't want to choose Moen if there are better alternatives.

jani - Grohe was the first. Hans - the brother/cousin/son - had a falling out and left to start his own firm. This was a loooong time ago. Hansgrohe has a larger offering and cultivates relationships with world renound designers to style some of their products. They were acquired by the global building products giant Masco about 10 years ago and have retained independence from big brother at least on the surface. Delta is also a Masco brand which is why there is a lot of similarity in showerheads.

Re: price. It's not cut a dried enough to say one is more expensive than the other. You just have to look at the indiv. products YOU are considering.

Same with quality. Both are good.

Service: Hansgrohe has a larger U.S. presence and can also leverage their parent's resources so in my opinion their service is better.

Every Moen faucet/shower valve system we put in our home failed within a year after we built. We still have every original Grohe fixture. Enough said...

What is the difference between Grohe and Hansgrohe shower fixtures?

Is the quality better in Grohe or in Hansgrohe? Is Grohe pricier? What about customer service?

I need to pick out a Thermobalance, showerhead, and handheld.

Antss won't believe this, but I agree!

We thought long and hard and chose hansgrohe over grohe. Their thermoastic systems got very good reviews, and we've had it going on 5 years now and still love it - no issues at all.
