Custom shower pan?

Posted by GreenHighlighter (My Page) on

Hello all -- I'm looking for a shower pan that would fit a shower that's 74" by 48". Where would I look for such a thing?

Our contractor is recommending tiling the shower floor, but I don't want to have to deal with cleaning grout, so something groutless seems really appealing.

Thanks in advance!

RE: Custom shower pan?

We used a custom granite shower base in our bathroom. They can also be made of marble or quartz. Some places do them in cultured marble or other solid surface materials.

Perhaps you could find a fabricator in your area that would make one for you.
Below is a link to the company that made ours just to give you some info about the base.

Here is a shot of my shower base. It is 37x48. Our plumber insisted we put in 2 drains or 1 larger drain to move the water away faster because of the low threshold. He was concerned about overflow. The fabricators said they never had any issues with just one average size drain. They made it the way the plumber wanted it.

We love the shower base. You can't see in the picture below but there are some very slight groves/ ridges in the base to prevent it from being slippery.
