Does anyone out there have a MAAX smooth bottom tub?!

We have just started a new build and need to order bath fixtures ASAP. I have chosen 2 styles of Maax bathtub but they both have smooth bottoms. I'm really concerned that this will be a safety issue.

I contacted the company and was told that it shouldn't be an issue, that it's the products you use that makes a tub slippery, and I could always use a non-slip mat. I REALLY don't want to use a mat, I think I'd rather have a tub I'm not as fond of than use a plastic mat.

Can anyone help me with how the smooth bottom compares to something textured? It will be used for bathing 99% of the time as we have a customer shower planned for our ensuite. It will only be used as a shower potentially by guests (which makes it even more important that it be safe).

Any insight would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!
