24x24 tiles for shower floor - advisable?

After reading another thread advising to be cautious about using 24x24 floor tile on the shower floor, I now am uncertain if I should proceed with this choice or not. I have a small 36x36 shower in a bath that will mainly be used by my toddler son. I had chosen 24x24 rectified porcelain tile from Walker Zanger (broke my budget, but we only need a few tiles for this tiny bathroom). My design philosophy is to minimize grout and maintenance as much as possible for this bathroom. The drain would be on the center of the shower and it will have a threshold around it. Will it be impossible to create a proper slope with 24x24 tiles? Should I go with a smaller version of these tiles? Or is it still doable? If not, would a redesign involving a sloping shower without a threshold still allow me to use 24x24 tiles inside the shower? Can any expert help me with my dilemma.
