Yeah, not my taste either. The sad part is that these are pretty pricey.

The highly technical term for that shower (in computerese) is "wretched excess".

I'm sorry for the macabre comparison, but it's the first thing I thought of when I saw it (not a Trekkie). Buddy seat! Now they use a different enclosure for lethal injection.

The shower looks off in this bathroom. A modern look goes better with that monstrosity.

My favorite feature of the unit is the see-through panel on the front of the tub.

A see-thru window in a tub? The whole works looks like a car wash for a human. Are those really mirrors on the walls? LOOK at ME.
Are those tanning lights? Well, I guess it solves that problem about putting a corner tub and shower in a room.

I know Kohler used to make - maybe still does - a sort of "car wash for a human" like you described. It had about 12 jets on the wall that deluged you with water, but it was recycled from the base pan. There was a conventional showerhead or two for fresh water for actual cleaning; the other jets were just for the nice feeling of getting splashed from every angle after you were already clean. The bottom pan was deeper than typical shower pans, but less so than a tub.

As for the glass panel in the tub, why stop at a little panel? There are some nice tubs out there that are entirely glass, like these::
