I think brown goes with almost any color. I've even seen it with a pale shade of lavendar and it looked nice.

What is your flooring? We just finished (well, almost finished) our Master Bath, and the BM colour consultant suggested a cool toned neutral (called Litchfield Grey, but really more a beige) to make the warm tones of my vanity, granite and tile stand out. I never would have chosen that, but I LOVE it! (I would have tried to match the wall with one of the colours in my finishes) I have brushed nickel fixtures/accessories and the Litchfield Grey is perfect for them.

If you are close to a Benjamin Moore, I would suggest talking to one of their designers (not just a sales person), it doesn't cost anything, and I've found them very helpful over the years. Bring in all your samples.

Sorry, I should have said that the floor and one entire wall will be the versailles pattern noce travertine. The contractor says this makes quite an 'impression' and that's why I'm going with the "simple" tropical brown granite so it doesn't compete.

I went into Lowe's on my way home from work and there was a large chunk of tropical brown on a broken display laying on the ground. I figured it was better to ask forgiveness than permission and dragged the granite piece over to the paint dept :-). I did put it back later.

This was a huge help and it seems that the brown granite (at least this piece) has some small grey-ish/green-ish highlights and I found a green that kind of matched. We'll paint after the contractors finish, so I can make sure my granite also has it.

Given that the travertine wall will be the focal point do you think it's better to just find a harmonious brown/cream/tan? Or go with the green? The paint will mainly be over the vanity - the other 2 walls have doors - so not much paint needed there.
