right size bathroom sink bowl?

I'm converting an antique dresser into a bathroom vanity. The dresser is 36" length by 21" deep. I'm not sure what size drop in sink bowl to use? (I'm using drop in sink bowl as opposed to vessel due to height of the dresser). Would 17" deep be too big? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks much!

I would say it is too big, that only gives you 2.5" on the back and front side (then you have to account for the counter over hang, and structure underneath), no place to mount the fixtures, unless they are mounted on the wall, or off to the side.
