Bathtub conundrum

I'm embarking on a gut reno of my master bath. My taste is very traditional (basketweave tile, subway tile) and I'm having a problem finding/choosing a bathtub.

I would like something that would fit into an alcove space, 5ft long by a max of 30 inches wide, and min 17 inches deep.

I love the deep Mirabelle "Edenton", but read on this site about the manufacturing issues, and have some concerns about the modern look of the tub.

Anyone have any ideas on a price-conscious well-made tub?

(And just an FYI - I will NOT shop in a Lowes for any reason.)

A clawfoot is very traditional and would be lovely with what you've described. I got mine at Waterworks several years ago and it was under $2K. They had more expensive ones as well.....I LOVE my tub.....

A clawfoot would be fabulous, but $2k is waaaay out of my price range.

Is it being used as a shower, too? If so, a free standing tub should be out of the question for you. You know I love my Mirabelle Edenton, and that I didn't have the "problems" others have claimed.
