Quartz shower walls

I really wanted to do quartz shower walls in my master bath. However, when I got the estimate, the salesman told me you can't do a shower pan in quartz. He said most people do tile. I absolutely do not want tile. He said my other option was to do a fiberglass pan.

Are there any other options? I have gotten an estimate for Onyx solid surfacing but really liked the look of the quartz.

Any advice/input would be appreciated!

RE: Quartz shower walls

I have a custom cultured marble pan in my Basement bathroom, and will soon be ordering another one for my Master bath reno. I had it done in a honed finish in a white on white pattern, so it is very subtle. It has seen heavy use for about 4 years (once we redid basement BR, we stopped using miniscule shower in Master). It is extremely heavy, solid, and we have been very happy with it. It won't look like your quartz, but it is another option, and better than the FG.

I talked with our flooring/tile lady today and she suggested that I do an Onyx pan with the quartz wall. I will hopefully end up doing that or the cultured marble for the pan. I am no fan of grout! THanks for the info.

Take a look at an Acrylic Shower Pan. Many sizes available and no grout. Also alot nicer than a typical Fiberglass Gelcoat. Also alot warmer than tile or stone..

Here is a link that might be useful: island Acrylic Bath Systems

I'm looking for a tile replacement for my shower as well!
I'm not a fan of fiberglass or acrylic as we've had both in
previous houses and had cracks. I am looking at the Kohler cast iron shower bases. They come in several colors and look really nice ( in the showroom anyway!).
The only problem for you might be they come in very limited sizes. Good luck!

Yes my shower is 4'6"x4'6" so not a typical size. It will probably have to be a custom. Thanks for the help guys!
