We did 4 x 4 white tiles on the wall all around the bathroom, and we love them. Here are a couple of shots:

We used the 4x4s in our tub/shower area, with DalTile octagon/dot floor tile (very inexpensive) and real hardwood beadboard on the walls. House is a 1926 Colonial foursquare, not elaborately detailed, so more a cottage style.

Ours are more of a cream than a pure white, but here's a picture in case you are interested. They are 13 x 20's in a subway pattern in the shower and behind the tub (1 1/2 rows). On the floor we patterned 13 x 20 and 6 x 6.

Porcelanosa has some beautiful white big tiles 12 x 35 if you don't like grout you could run them tight and really emiminate the grout. That is what I am planing on. I have a sample of one that has kind of a hidden linen print on it. It is very pretty and is in my consideration pile. It is very reflective and you have to look really close to see this white on white pattern. They also have another called lines I think. You will not find this linen one on the web site I don't think but you can see the lines patern. It is also very very faint. Good luck. www.porcelanosa-usa.com

This tuesday, I'll be doing a tub enclosure using Dal's 6x6 white wall tile. Nothing fancy, but effective protection for the walls.

We used Daltile Modern Dimensions tile for our (as yet, still in-progress) guest bathroom shower. We used the ~12" X ~4" size tile (not quite subways!).

Our tile guy installed the tile vertically, in a staggered/stepped pattern. There is a mosaic border at or above eye-level comprised of varying bars/sizes of 3 different stones (which tie in other elements/colors in the room).
