Vanity top/uneven wall

Need suggestions to flush mount a marble vanity countertop with an uneven wall at an inside corner. Thinking of removing some spackle at the corner instead of building out the wall by spackling. Anyone ever run into this situation?

There are a few ways to do it, with the 'most professional' being to have the countertop cut to conform to your wall. Of course, that's only easy if you're a countertop fabricator.

If you're a DIY'er, you can either build out the shallow portions of the wall (a lot of work), or cut into the wall and dig out the fat parts.

OR, install a backsplash to cover the gap.

Vanity has a molded 4" backsplash attached. I'm leaning toward digging out some spackle and drywall, about 1/8" then caulking the backsplash with silicone matching grout. Thanks!
