I'm familiar with the curb height requirement minimum of 2" above the top of the drain. Ever hear of any minimum height requirement above the bathroom floor? A tile guy who came by to quote tonight told me there was a 7.5" minimum of the curb above the finished bathroom floor (as he was commenting on how the curb had been framed). -Gary

There is no minimum between the shower floor and the bathroom floor. That's why we can have curbless showers. The restriction is the minimum of 2" water depth over the drain and a maximum of 9" water depth over the drain.

Thanks Mongo, that is what I thought. He seemed adept on all other aspects, so I was surprised that he thought that. If his quote is competitive, we will resolve that. I'm not looking for curbless, but maybe more in the 5" or 6" range above finished floor, which would be about the same above the (Kerdi) drain.
