vinyl tile question

remodeling small bathroom off master bedroom. Has vinyl flooring from many years ago with possible asbestos so I want to leave it and lay 12x12 vinyl tiles over it (actually a professional will do it). Anyone else done this? We do have a shower that has splashed water on current old flooring and discolored it abit so I know this can happen and am picking out a darker color. Have to do this as inexpensively as possible.Thanks for any input.

have you thought about vinyl planks? at least if there is a big water problem you can pull it up easy enough to dry underneath.

I know in my bathroom they put a piece of plywood over the old flooring, and then put down vinyl tile. Might be eaiser to put sheet vinyl down over it.
