Are all subway tiles created equal?

We're planning to re-do our shower in standard subway tiles (3" by 6"). I've been to Home Depot and some Tile shops around the area. The tiles look the same to me from the various stores, but Home Depot definitely has the cheapest price.

So my question is: are all subway tiles created the same? Should I go for the cheapest?

Or is there a specific brand / maker that's better?

And if some are better than others - what's the difference?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, some are better than others. Here's a good article to help start your research: http://www.bhg.com/home-improvement/tile/installation-how-to/ceramic-tile-porcelain-tile-flooring/
