Hi everyone, I hope some of you can help.

I had two tub with tile surrounds completed, one looks terrible so it needs to be replaced. The other looks great but I am going with a new contractor and he says we should redo both. We have metal studs - we used hardiboad but I don't think that they seamed them. The one thing I am wounding is they use this brown fiber like board for a vapor barrier, it's sort of like a compressed board but I don't this its waterproof. How much of a concern is this. Again this shower looks great and we are already having to repay to fix one. Can anyone advise, this is also a condo so I have some one below us but we do have concrete floors
