Help me pick a countertop and paint!

We are finally redoing our downstairs bath. We have ordered a dura supreme vanity in chesnut w/ cherry. I'm having trouble choosing a countertop to coordinate with the tile. Our tile is porcelain but looks like slate. The lady at the cabinet store recommended crema bordeaux granite for the countertop. I'm concerned it is going to make the space look too dark. I'd love some suggestions for countertop and paint. For some reason I was thinking of a white quartz but I'm not sure if that will be too stark. I've attached a few pics. Thanks in advance!!

The area where the vanity and toilet bowl will go. Sorry for the x duct tape our tile guy apparently didn't want anyone walking in there lol.
