| Just moved into a house last summer that was built in 1950. Our basement has an sewage/egg-y smell. We were told to pour water down the one floor drain in the basement. This works very temporarily. The smell also comes and goes. Please help. |

| Check for other drains, and after filling the trap put about a tablespoon of mineral oil down to slow evaporation of the trap seal water. If you have any other drains (like a laundry sink or stand pipe) they could also be dry. |
