stairs: laminated oak or natural oak

We have spoken to 2 different GC for doing our basement. One suggested doing stairs with laminated oak, while other suggested doing with natural oak where he will need to sand and seal. Which is better? What are pros and cons of each?

RE: stairs: laminated oak or natural oak

Laminate is a picture of wood under a hard finish. I would go with natural wood treads.
