Framing in Ohio

| Good Afternoon All,
I have a question as far as code is concerned. Can I nail my studs into floor boards/ rafters or do I need a 2X4's on top the the 2X4 studs.
Also is there any code stating you cannot put your vertical studs sideways(4 inches wide instead of 2)?

| I would imagine that would depend on where in Ohio you live. In Iowa, depending on the city or county there are either very specific guidelines or absolutely none. For example there aren't any building codes in the town I live in other than not to build too close to property lines. No inspections, we're free to do what we want. People in the bigger towns have mountains of red tape to build things and tons of permits to buy. |
