Strip drain instead of corrugated pipe?

We have water issues here due to a nearby creek and several springs on our property, not to mention being on a hill with runoff, etc. We've already had heavy equipment in here to correct the grade, but water still pooled up a little in the bottom of a swale after a heavy rain (there's no grass yet, just packed dirt). I want to install what they call a strip drain in the bottom of that swale. It's under the brand name Drainguard, and it supposedly eliminates the need for gravel backfill. I would connect it to a solid pipe (there are special adapters for that) and channel to runoff away.

I can't find reviews for it anywhere. Has anyone here used it?
