We are considering having our builder finish our basement in our new construction home. I would like a small kitchen area (sink, small beverage fridge, microwave, etc) with some cabinetry (and countertop for serving area). I don't have the pricing from builder yet for that, but I am anticipating it to be higher than what I could get from a cabinet maker. We are having Berber carpet in basement. Do you think it would messy/problematic to add a kitchen area with another contractor after we move in? Could the carpet for under the cabinets be easily pulled up, cut, and retacked? The costs on this house continue to escalate, so I'm trying to spend money in the right areas.
