Where exactly should my sump pump drain to? I just recently moved into my home and we've had a bit of rain lately. There is water bubbling up on the side of my house and the other day I noticed a lot of toilet paper and rocks near a hole on the side of my house. It looks like the hole was plugged with this stuff and "exploded". I'm figuring it's from the sump pump....

Also, I had been noticing a sewer like smell in my basement and one of my upstairs closets. Since the "explosion" from the hole I haven't noticed smell. I'm thinking that maybe the drainage system was clogged and the smell was due to that.

Any thoughts form anyone?
