Yet another 'what size dehumidifier question

Posted by veryzer (My Page) on

I have a small basement (500 sf. max.) that I'm finishing and am wondering what size dehumidifier I need. In the midst of this sultry heat wave the temp. is 68 while the humidity is 71%. I'll have it placed next to an unvented bathroom whose shower will rarely if ever be used.

Thanks.

See Table One below.

Typical home dehumidifiers have much larger capacity than the maximum you need, so will work very efficiently to remove sufficient moisture to bring relative humidity (rh) below 50%.

We have a 3000 sq ft finished basement and run one Kenmore 50 pint humidifier all summer long. The basement stays nice and odor free in the hot summer.
