We have a portable dehumifier we bought for our bacement years ago.. We have another home that has a dirtcrawlspace. Question is, Can I use this same dehumidifier (with drain hose) in a dirt floor crawlspace or do I need a special type.. Thanks.

It can be used. However, you would be way ahead in sealing the crawlspace--at the least, using a continuous sealed ground cover on the floor. Also, be sure the dehumidifier is plugged into a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) protected receptacle. This excludes crawls in certain flood zones.

If you do not seal the dirt floor the dehumidifier is going to run almost constantly until it burns out. Seal the dirt floor with (at least) a layer of plastic attached to the side walls, close up any vents, and run the hose outside the sealed area.
