I just installed a unit made by Sante Fe - after reading the great reviews about it. You can find it on iaqsource.com (aka NT Suppy) .

They make a mid size and large capacity (HC) unit. I bought the HC unit that can handle a large basement. I ordered the unit on a Tuesday, it was delivered to my house in VA by Friday. I installed it Friday and by Saturday the humidity in my basement dropped from 65% to 49% - during that 100 degree weekend blast we got. I love the thing.

In the reviews I read, a lot of people were talking about units they purchased from Sears, Home Depot, lowes, etc. and that these units did not perform that well. The Sante Fe got great reviews - I can see why.

I now realize that I should have had one of these in my last house. When the temperature is relatively low and the humidity is high, the AC won't help you get the moisture out.

I recommend googling "best dehumidifiers". Several reviews and plenty of comments on them.
