Basement temp

We just had a radon mitigation system installed in our basement that had a reading of 8.8. Our basement now is hot and humid, and we have been running the dehumidifier constantly, and it is working properly, but we can't get the basement cooled off. We are in the beginning stages of remodeling, and I'm not sure what to do.

It seems to me you have three concerns:

1) "The reading is still high." It may take a period of time to reduce the reading.

2) A dehumidifier does not cool the air; actually, it warms the air but reduces its moisture content.

3) If the basement is still humid, you may have an undersized dehumidifier.

Your basement windows must be closed for the dehumidifier(s) to be effective.
