Painted Brick Basement walls of my Baltimore Rowhome

Posted by atct86 (My Page) on

I am doing a rehab of a Baltimore Row-Home, and it has brick walls, and a poured concrete floor. The walls have poorly adhered paint on them, with some mold. The floors are bare concrete and in great shape.

Should I power-wash with some bleach? Should I try to get the paint off?

How should I remove the mold, and make the basement look as clean and fresh as possible.

No power washing!!

It can destroy the brick. (See Link.)

In my foolish younger days I had a Century home facade sandblasted because, well, because that's what everyone else was doing. Bad idea!

Run a dehumidifier to keep the relative humidity below 50%.

Don't open the basement windows in the summer.
