Bilco doors keep slamming shut?

Hi all, we moved into a house with bilco doors. when we try and prop open the doors they stay open for a bit then sometimes just slam shut - im not sure if its missing some rods or what? It very dangerous for our young kids, any ideas what im missing? Thanks.

Make sure they are opening all the way and not blocked by something.

Al the ones I have seen go past 90 degrees open.
