| After a long delay, we have finally installed the fireplace insert in our basement.
We chose electric because friends with gas inserts cannot allow them to run continually as the heat becomes overbearing. With an electric insert, the thermostatically controlled auxilary heat and faux-fire can operate independent or together. Ours is wired for 220 volts and has 20,000 BTU heat output, the fan is quiet. Actually our furnace keeps the basement comfortable through the winter but during the season change the space can feel cool. When you are planning your basement, this option is worth considering for both supplemental heat and the ambience a firplace offers. Photos are linked from "My Page". |
