I recently had my basement finished, and failed the final inspection because my egress window opens too small. I've had two basement contractors out who both are quoting something in the $5K range because to keep the nice window in, they need to cut a bigger hole in the foundation. Due to budgetary constraints, I'd much rather go back to the simple, though ugly, escape window that had a pull chain on it so the whole thing popped out in case of emergency (such as the one at this website: http://www.kewaneecorp.com/esf.html

The problem is, I can't seem to find anyone who sells or installs such windows in the northern Chicago suburbs. Any ideas on how to track this type of window down? Are there other manufacturers than Kewanee?
