Ladder or portable steps for crawl space w/ Bilco doors

We have a crawl space about 4 1/2 feet high that is accessed by Bilco doors. Every so often we have to get there - (Central AC is located there and also pest control frequently checks that area.) The old owners had a homemade wooden ladder there that is now rotted. What can I buy so that we can access this area safely?

How are the space restrictions? Best option might just be an inexpensive aluminum ladder.

I would use a 4or 6' step ladder. Fiberglass ladders are the best & you can use them elsewhere.
