carpet and tile flooring?? advice needed

hello

my gc is wonderful. i am agonizing as to which flooring i want in our basement as we are finishing it. gc suggested 1/2 oak plank tiles and 1/2 carpet. water not been a problem in the 5 yrs we have lived here. am considering "tv" area for carpet and "game" area for the oak plank....any thoughts/ better ideas and what is your experience--likes/dislikes with your flooring choice?

In our basement project we are going to use carpet for tv/gaming areas and pergo for the wet bar area.

In our last basement we had ceramic tile all over and I absolutely hated it. It was just too much tile and made the basement feel cold. It was also hard to clean...for me.

Sounds like you have a good combination.
