What if you cut another piece of ceiling tile the size of the section of tile that sticks up and glue it to the face of the tile. Then recut your trim (metal it looks like) to run all the way to the wall. Might try that before you get into trimming the tile. Good luck

That is what I was thinking. Im to to figure how that would look having a 6" pice of cieling tile running on an angle like that. Another suggestion I got at the fireplace forum was to continue the granite all the way to the ceiling. Also a suggestion was to cut the granite so it is level at the top and redue the soffit so it continues to the wall instead of having it notched like it is now. These have all been good suggestions so far.

Any more opinions or ideas?

Well I fixed it I tried putting a piece of ceiling tile in the corner above the end granite piece and it did not look right. I extended the granite to the ceiling and had the soffit run into it.
