Ours are finished at 7' 5" with a 10" drop covering the heat ducts. This is pretty normal for a standard basement - a deep basement will enable one to have a level ceiling with 8" clearance. Our home is 12 years old if that is what you are considering "new".

Our basement has 9' ceilings. Most areas will have a ceiling height of 8' when finished. However we are working in decorative tray ceilings around some of the duct work so part of it will still have 9' height.

94" throughout the entire finished space.
