Living in New England and have a finished basement that gets humid in the Summer. Size is about 500 sq feet. The main TV is down there so a quiet model is preferred. I bought the Frigidaire FAD504TDD 50-Pint Dehumidifier after much research but am bothered by the cycling and noise of this unit. I am planning on putting it in the unfinished part of the basement. The finished and unfinished sides are separated except for a door and a vent (was for heating by forced hot air but have since changed to a forced hot water system so vent is open).

Questions:

Can I run the dehumidifier in the unfinished to dehumidify both sections?

If not, any suggestions for a quieter model to run in the finished section. The Soleus Air 40 seems to be one of the quietest but also has approximately 20% failure rate (per Amazon reports).
