2x4 wall with air space

I recently did a bar in a finished basement for a customer. The contractor put up 2x4 walls and insulated with fiberglass and left about a 1 or 2 inch space between foundation wall and 2x4 wall. Is this a good way to go? They did have interior french drains installed as well.

Is this a good way to go?

No. But if the contractor omitted the vapour barrier, at least moisture won't accumulate just behind the drywall and feed mould.

See link below.

Here is a link that might be useful: Basement Insulation Systems

Worthy,
I went to that site, thank you. Would insulating the foundation wall with 1 or 2" rigid foam then building a 2x4 wall be the way to go? Would you put 2x4 wall tight against rigid foam and then insulate with just fiberglass with no vapor barrier?
