Covering up insulation in basement utility room

Hi all,

We just got our basement finished. The space around the water heater and gas furnace is now a big unfinished closet. The contractor has stuffed unfaced batt insulation in the wall between finished and unfinished space, but has left the pink insulation exposed on the unfinished side. Is that normal to do so? Is there any health risk or hazard in leaving it that way? We intend to use the space for long term storage. Lastly, if I should cover it, what is the easiest/cheapest way to do it. It does not have to be pretty. Drywall? Plywood? Panels?

Thanks,

RK
