Uhm, Yeah, Found some Gay Porno...

Hi.

I live in an old apartment building. Anyway in the kitchen, closet, and bathroom, there is tiles over the original ceiling which was a couple feet taller. The reason for this is it looks like they ran new wires, cable, electricity, whatever..

I've checked out the ceiling tiles, looks like there is about two extra feet up there, i might build a hidden area.. :)

Anyway, long story short, I checked the ones in my closet.... it looks like the entire original ceiling is falling down.. I removed heaps of the original ceiling that was just resting on the tiles... And I found the following:

- Assorted Mail from 1989

- 4 Hardcore Gay Porno Mags

- Men's Leopard Thongs

- A joint

- Scissors

- A couple pictures

Anyway, what would you do about this? I cleaned it out (except one big piece of drywall i couldn't remove) and threw everything away...I think I'm going to call my landlord tomorrow.

    The collapsing cieling needs to be fixed.

    The gay porn could have been worse: when I was a landlord, I once found kiddy porn films, starring the ex-tenant who had skipped out owing me and a whole bunch of other people a lot of money. I called the cops.

    A landlord can't help the lifestyle of a tenant, especially if the tenant hides their lifestyle in the ceiling. Also that tenant is long gone.

    If I were you I wouldn't call the landlord unless the landlord gave you permission to pull down the ceilings he owns and you only rent.

    I don't think you understood. The original ceiling is fine (yet crumbling down). In the kitchen, bathroom, and closet they put these tiles (you see them in schools and stuff) down (the ones you can just push up and see into). So I pushed them up to see if I could see anything -- I saw old fixtures and stuff before they "redid" the place, and the original ceiling was crumbling down. In the closet there was those items, I thought they might push them up to check before people move in. Especially when my deposit is half a "cleaning fee."

    I wouldnt worry about it til the ceiling caved in & THEN you can sue the landlord! ;)

    Would be a great Place to store things you wouldnt want stolen in a usual apartment breakin. Most thieves arent going to take the time to look for hidden areas....& if they do the most likely place they WOULD look above the tiles would be the closet.

    So what is the big deal, you found something from another tennant that has moved, just throw it out and forget about it.

    It is not hurting you is it? No. The landlord doesnt need to know about it, and it could have even been there from the tennants before them. It could have been a teenager that didnt want the parents to know. Regardless of what is was, it is none of your business anyway. Common sense would be just to throw it out.

    That doesn't even make sense. How was it none of my business, it was in my apartment?

    I think what nightcrawler is trying to say is that just because you found something that was left by a former tennant (and it could have been three tennants ago, for all you know), that everyone is best served by you just disposing of the items that offend you. The landlord will not be able to do anything with those items except dispose of them as well (or keep them, if that is what tickles his/her fancy). I used to be a landlord and people would leave behind all sorts of things. Most of the time, I just disposed of it. No big deal.

    Let's switch things around a little. If you had found a stash of cash, would you be as likely to run to the landlord and turn it in?

    Im glad you understood it, and I still feel the same way, it is none of his business, just throw it out and move on.

    Obviously not, but the point is, it *IS* my business as it was in the apartment I rent. It's not like I'd want that stuff linked to my name. I think it's better that they realize they should check those places before they rerent the apartment, what if somebody left a handgun behind?

    Oh Please, if you found a handgun up there ...
    A- You could leave it in the ceiling where you found it.
    B- You could call the police... (but would you want them to think it was yours.
    C- You could throw it out maybe embeded in a shoe box with cement on it so as no to hurt the garbageman.
    D- Cuck it into a river or something.
    I think you can get the picture.

    Now if it were me finding the stuff in your ceiling, I would have gotten a hefty garbage bag, threw it out and probably one hour later would have forgotten all about it. Probably because it wouldnt hold my interest long enough to ask questions about it.

    eek, that sounded a bit evil.......lol

    Glad you arent my tenant. If you called me to tell me that you found some magazines (dont care if its nazi, porn, or home & garden) I would not be renewing your lease. I only expect to be calleed if something is important.

    Just throwing everything away would be just fine. You say you don't want this stuff linked to you. It's not like they're going to be dusting for fingerprints or anything.

    Your original thread started over a month ago. Did you ever contact your landlord?

    nfllifer: I guess you don't clean your apartments before you lease them? What if a child found them?

    And I called my landlord, yes, but it was because the original ceiling (which the tiles block) was falling and there was a lot of plaster,etc,whatever on the tiles. I probably had to clean at least 50 pounds of it out of there.

    That has to be the dumbest analogy ever. You're comparing electrical outlets to easy tiles you can push up? Seriously, that's like saying I'm going to put my finger's up my gf's as* rather than her pus***.

    The first thing that came to my mind is that vintage gay porn might be worth something and you could sell it on E-bay. :)
