| there's no way you could have caused this leak. If you had been living there for a long time, maybe it could be argued that you'd allowed the leak to get worse by not reporting it sooner, or that by not cleaning properly you'd allowed it to get corroded, or by not reporting the leak when it was small you'd let it get so bad it needed replacement instead of a simple washer fix. Or if you'd ignored the leak, and eventually the cabinets were damaged, the landlord could argue that your neglect had caused damage. But you just moved in. This is not your problem. Why does the insurance have to pay for replacing the stupid faucet? How expensive can that be to do? What will your landlord do if you refuse to pay that deductible? he's really setting it up so that you'll never tell him again that something needs to be replaced or repaired--and the cost of fixing stuff after it's been broken for a while is more than the cost of fixing it right away. |
