Power problems with Air Conditining

Posted by turtle871 (My Page) on

So, I just purchased a portable ac unit yesterday to cool off my small one bedroom apartment. Since starting to use it I have noticed that every time it cycles on or off, the lights and cable in my apartment flicker off and then back on. It doesn't cause too much of a problem, except for being somewhat annoying. Does anyone have a possible fix for this?

RE: Power problems with Air Conditining

an AC has a large surge current and cause a sag on the line. Run a 12AWG extension cord to an outlet on a circuit that isn't shared by lighting. Try kitchen or bathroom outlets.
