| Hi - We are moving to a 16th floor condo with a lovely LR/DR that is 16 w x 39 long. We are planning to open up one of the 3 bedrooms partially to the LR to make a study/den That will creat an opening of 6'. I will really miss our fireplace but was over at a friends house and saw that she had a REAL fireplace with a 3 tier candleholder in it and it looked great. She had the focal point of a FP without the mess and chimney. And I'd have someplace for the stockings when the grands come for Christmas.I was thinking of recreating such a thing in our condo, perhaps next to the 6' opening. So, question.....how would I do this? build out the wall a bit and slap a mantle on it with a sort of box thing inside it, paint it black and put in the candle holder? It does sort of sound odd when I explain but am looking for 1) reaffirmation that maybe it would look OK 2) how I might do it and 3) where one gets simple mantles. Thanks, Faith |
