Water Bill

I just moved into an apartment that has 12 units. I have to pay for water. The building has one water meter. How would a landlord go about billing 12 units for water on one meter? I live alone. My neighbor lady has 3 teens and a once-in-a-while boyfriend.

Look at your lease; it should describe the terms. I bill my tenants equally, but they knew the terms before accepting as it is in the lease. They pay about $20 a month each, depending on the bill.

every state has different laws. Some states will not let landlords split utilities without spereate meters. Check you lease, and call a free leagal service.
