 o
Viking versus JennAir CD French Door refrigerator

We are looking for a 36 inch counter depth french door refrigerator. We prefer one without the water on the door, and with an extra drawer in the freezer section. The Jenn Air 71 inch high with euro handle seems to meet our needs, JFC2290WEM.

However, the appliance store is also selling a Viking counter depth french door fridge, which apparently is pretty much the same as the Jenn Air fridge in set up, from their outlet. It is a new fridge, has a longer warranty than the Jenn AIr (3 years instead of 1 for the initial, so we probably wouldn't bother with the extended warranty), and is about $400 less expensive than the JennAIr (and this doesn't include the cost of an extended warranty, which would be another $400).

However, the store is really discouraging us from buying the VIking -- the salesman says that they get more service calls on the VIking and the customer service from the company (Viking versus JennAIr) is not as good. However, I thought that they were basically the same fridge (all made by Whirlpool) so I'm not sure why there would be such a big difference.

Any thoughts? Has anyone purchased a Viking CD french door fridge or have other recent experience with their refrigerators?

Thanks so much!

RE: Viking versus JennAir CD French Door refrigerator

my understanding is that the viking is the Jenn Air with a different door and a viking name badge. (which retail makes it more expensive). I understood these were made in the same factory? we went with the Jenn air because it was much cheaper (retail)--but if the viking is cheaper in the outlet I think I might consider that??

FWIW we have had our jenn air side by side (71" high) for 2 years with no issues.
