Micro wave with range top

Has anyone had trouble with the vent not drawing one the Kitchnaid microwave range top ? Have had 2 service techs tell me fan and vent not designed to go up 2 stories. Our builder,says spec on appliance says it can be vented that far. Every time we cook on the stove top and in oven the smoke alarm goes off. Can anyone provide their experience...thx

No OTR will have decent ventilation. They really aren't designed to deal with pro grade appliances and are the worst compromise between venting and microwaving as they don't do either particularly well.

Upgrade to a good quality vent with at least 600CFM. Or open a window.
