I've been asking similar questions and I have found that no manufacturer wants to discuss this: I guess it opens a pandora's box of responsibility problems.

I am now looking for a "fridge door mounting mechanism" that couples a separately hinged door onto a refrigerator door while allowing for some slide-glide movement, since the two doors don't have the same axis of rotation. Fisher & Paykel sells this in Australia, and Liebherr sells it here with its "fully-integrated" HC-1001 and HC-1051 and Blomberg with its "fully-integrated" BRFB-0900. So I know this slider thing exists and can be bought somewhere. Search and let me know what you find.

There is a risk of causing frost on the gasket when you conceal a fridge with a finishing panel on the side because the air is enclosed. Depends on many factors including the relative humidity of your home. Some manufacturers make sure to put some waste heat ("coil") in the front corners of the fridge... When fridges are sold as side-by-side in pairs they have to be designed for this position.
